#igotitfromymamma: Sonya Malani Panchal

How can you be an optometrist, a mom and run a passion project as a business? It's amazing what us women, can do! We're chatting with Sonya Malani Panchal, creator of Scrumptious Wicks  about her inspiration & guiding force, her mom. Read on.

What are your memories of your mom from when you were a child?

My mom has always been loving and supportive, yet tough as nails. I remember her being strict with me about doing well in school, but she always planned the best vacations and weekend outings for family fun time. She taught me that having fun and enjoying life was equally as important as working hard.

When you look back now, how do you feel your mom inspired & influenced you in your growing years?

My work ethic, hands down, comes from my mother. I saw her never back down from a challenge. In fact, it was commonplace in our home to hear of her getting promoted at work, sometimes even in just a few months' time. She has always been a working mom, and as I grew up watching her, I saw her handle work/life balance so well. Like many other moms, she may have felt frazzled at times, but from my perspective, I only saw her being successful at everything life threw at her.

If you had to tell your mom how you feel about her, what would you say to her today?

Thank you for showing me that hard work and a constant thirst for knowledge would undoubtedly be required of me in order to be successful. Thank you for supporting me even when I thought I couldn't go on. Finally, thank you for being the best role model a daughter could ever ask for.

Thanks for sharing Sonya. That was lovely!
