Baby registry Must Haves, straight from young moms

Baby registry Must Haves, straight from young moms

When it comes to babies, there's a ton of information out there. As a mama-to-be, it can get a bit overwhelming and it's hard to know what to get for your little one. We ask our friends and family, reach out to all the moms we know, we scour the internet looking for ratings and reviews, trying to figure out what will make our lives easier and better. Which pacifier is perfect for our little one? Should I even get a pacifier? Which crib? What kind of car seat should I get? It's hard to know where to even begin.

So, we thought we'd make it a little easier for you. We did the asking around and checked with our wonderful community of moms on what they thought were useful must-haves for a baby registry. Below is a list that made their lives a bit better and easier!

Dr. Mona Amin, host of ThePedsdoctalk Podcast, a US based paediatrician and mom to an adorable little baby boy recommended the below as her list of must-haves.

The Inglesina Fast Table Chair

She says, " It's our go-to easy to attach high chair. We can also take it on-the-go to restaurants and on trips, as it folds and is portable. It attaches to any sturdy non-glass table and supports up to 37 pounds."

indigrow's take: Perfect for moms looking to step out of the house for a quick coffee or meal with friends.

The Boppy Pillow

"I highly recommends it as its great for tummy time, great for bottle feeding or breast feeding and so versatile."

indigrow's take: We agree!!! A nursing pillow definitely helps our aching arms.

Last but not least on Dr. Mona's list of Must-haves is The Banana Teether. She says, " It's great as a toy when they begin oral exploration, teething relief, and also as a toothbrush!"

indigrow's take: Given that our little ones love to put everything in their mouth, anything that helps with their teething and keeps them clean gets our stamp of approval.

Gayatri Patel Bahl, actor, dancer, filmmaker and now mom to 2 month old Satya shared her baby registry must haves with us. Here's what she had to say...

"My Baby Bjorn Bouncer is a godsend. You can use it till they are 2 years old. Right now, I bounce Satya in it while I'm pumping. I play him music, I can read/write my emails. Its perfect as it's the only way I can distract him specially when I'm alone."

indigrow's take: Anything that gives us a few extra minutes of me-time has got our vote!

Next up on Gayatri's list is A Cloth Baby Carrier. It's super long, soft and adjustable. Gayatri says, "It seems complicated but it's so easy. Satya is very comfortable in it. I get naps that are an hour and a half to two hours sometimes and that's a real blessing with a baby that's this young.

indigrow's take: Anything that gets our little ones to nap for just that little bit extra makes all the difference in the world to us mammas.

Reshma Sondagar, a photographer and mom to two adorable kids chose items geared towards someone who is on the go, likes to be out and about and plans to travel.

A good diaper BACKPACK, not a purse or side bag. Find something with lots of compartments and zippers, ideally one with a cooler section and an easy to access wipes part too. You will want one that has a good back padding for yourself and some hooks so you can attach it to the back of a stroller. You need something that you can easily throw things in and run out the door but still be able to find all your things in all the different compartments.

I personally purchased the Eddie Bauer diaper backpack and I use it every single day. I have to say, I initially only had a nice purse style one, I only used it once and then invested in a back pack! Don't try to go for fashion ladies...go for practical! Although these days there are so many beautiful backpack style diaper bags so you can get both fashion and practical."

Reshma, like Gayatri also recommended a good baby carrier.

"Don't cheap out, get something that is ergonomic and easy to use on your own. I personally travel a lot so it was important for me to have my hands free when travelling. I bought the Ergobaby 360 and it's been one of the best gifts I received, whether you are going for a walk around the block or flying to Europe and hoping on and off flights you will want something that you can easily strap your baby in and have your hands free to do what you need!"

indigrow's take: When you're a mom with a million things to carry, having your hands free is not just important, but essential. Even in the times of covid, a little outing is made easy with a hands free option.

Julie Patel, Nurse, Photographer and Mom to one year old Liam, sent us her list of absolute must-haves.

First up, Muslin Burp Cloths by Comfy Cubs. She says, " They are the best soft cotton burp cloths that can be used as bibs under when feeding too. No velcro fuss. Just super soft."

indigrow's take: When you think about how many outfits you potentially save from your little one's not so adorable spit ups, you can never have enough burp cloths, we say !!

Next on Julie's list are Aden + Anais Swaddle Blankets.

According to her, "They are the best sleepers for 0-6 months with velcro for the night. The baby feels cozy and comforted. And the blankets large enough to still swaddle my one year old. Great breathable material and quality even after multiple washes. And the prints are so cute."

indigrow's take: As every Indian grandma will tell you, swaddling makes all the difference in the world for a good night's sleep.

The third item on Julie's list is the Boon Grass Countertop Baby Bottle Drying Rack. In her opinion," It's a must must-have. Easy to clean and keeps everything organised. We still use them."

indigrow's take: When you use words like 'easy to clean' and 'keeps everything organised',  it's an immediate win for us.

Last but not least, Pallavi Sastry, Artist and Producer, mom to a one year old baby girl, who highly recommends indigrow books, songs and games for little ones all over the world. "As a kid, I didn't know how to share my culture with my friends. On the eve of her 1st birthday, knowing that my daughter can share the book and flashcards with all of her future friends fills my heart with an abundance of gratitude and joy. Parents of all backgrounds can be proud to give these beautiful gifts to their children and teach them to celebrate all cultures and perspectives."

indigrow's take: We may be slightly biased but we couldn't agree more :)
